The purpose of the Product Development Engineer role at Hy-Tek Intralogistics is to drive innovation and value creation through strategic vendor partnerships and the development of complementary products. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping Hy-Tek's product portfolio by identifying, evaluating, and onboarding technology vendors, as well as leading the design and development of add-on products that enhance our vendor partner equipment systems. Additionally, the Product Development Engineer helps spearhead technology education initiatives and supports solutions development. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and strategic vision to drive continuous innovation and deliver exceptional value to our customers.

Vendor Selection and Onboarding

•Identify potential technology vendors through market research and networking.

•Evaluate potential vendor capabilities, pricing, company viability, and quality to make informed selection recommendations as it pertains to the value proposition for Hy-Tek.

•Prepare and present comparative analysis of competing technologies to assist in vendor selection and development of sales and solutioning tools.

•Lead the onboarding process including contract negotiation, legal review, and assimilation into Hy-Tek work processes.

•Explore industry trends and advise on investment opportunities.

Development

•Lead the design and development of add-on or extension products that complement our vendor partner equipment systems, including concept generation, prototype development, and testing.

•Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to evaluate the viability of new product concepts.

•Utilize engineering principles and design tools to create detailed product specifications, CAD models, and engineering drawings.

•Drive the product development process, including project planning, scheduling, and milestone tracking.

•Develop seamless integrations of partner technologies in innovative ways to bring the greatest value to our customers.

•Identify and resolve technical challenges and design issues throughout the product development lifecycle.

Innovation Lab

•Create customized ways to highlight partner products with Hy-Tek’s products and services within working Innovation Lab.

•Work with technology partners to create a plan for demonstrating the equipment. systems. Generate drawings of proposed concepts, prepare budgetary estimates, generate proposals, and serve as the project engineer in the deployment of technology.

•Conduct technology demonstrations for customers.

•Plan and conduct application testing to support technology selection and sales process.

Technology Education

•Train Hy-Tek team on innovative technologies and their potential applications.

•Create training resources and tools.

•Coordinate vendor training.

•Guide and instruct co-ops in job duties and professional development.

Support

•Provide subject matter expertise on robotic technologies and assist solutions development and implementation in the application and deployment of innovative technologies.

•Assist marketing in the preparation of press releases, white papers, articles, and videos to promote Hy-Tek’s portfolio of products.

•Bachelor’s degree or related experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or computer science preferred.

•2 years’ engineering experience or master’s degree required; material handling or manufacturing experience preferred.

•Working knowledge of conveyance, sortation, robotics, goods to person technologies, autonomous mobile robots, and associated software solutions is a plus.

•Experience with C#.Net or other objected oriented programming preferred as well as integration experience with RESTful API.

•Well-developed communication skills with strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills necessary.

•Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and comfortable in a demanding environment.

•Ability to communicate with internal and external team members and drive changes or decisions necessary for project implementation.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

•Experience with AutoCAD a plus.

•Industry knowledge related to supply chain, logistics, material handling systems, and software such as WMS, WES, & WCS preferred.

•Position requires the ability to work without direct supervision and with a high degree of responsibility.
